Adult Lee County Library cardholders can check out a Cultural Enrichment Pass providing a free self-guided visit for one adult and up to one accompanying child. The pass includes the Edison and Ford historic homes and gardens, museum and Edison Botanical Research Laboratory.
The pass is currently available at Dunbar Jupiter Hammon Library, Fort Myers Regional Library and Lakes Regional Library and can be checked out only on an adult library card.
DISCOUNTED with SNAP benefits: Edison Ford participates in Museums for All. Visitors receiving SNAP benefits can present an EBT card and matching photo ID for reduced general admission for up to four people.
DISCOUNTED for Lee County residents during Holiday Nights: The Estates has offered Lee County residents $5 off adult admission on Monday evenings during its annual Holiday Nights celebration. J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Visitor & Education Center
FREE Visitor & Education Center.
The Visitor & Education Center at Ding Darling on Sanibel is free to visit and includes educational exhibits, videos, wildlife and ecosystem displays and an interactive children’s area. Parking at the Visitor Center is also free.
Important 2026 update: The Visitor & Education Center is temporarily closed for Hurricane Ian recovery construction, with a projected reopening date of October 1, 2026. Wildlife Drive remains open.
FREE National Wildlife Refuge Day: Ding Darling participates in federal fee-free days. In 2026, admission fees are waived on October 11 for the first Sunday of National Wildlife Refuge Week. The waiver applies to the federal entrance fee but not separate concessionaire activities or tours.
Wildlife Drive normally has a separate entrance fee, so don’t confuse the always-free Visitor Center with free admission to every part of the refuge.
