Downtown Bonita Springs Is Getting a New Splash Pad — And Families Are Going to Love It 🌴💦

Downtown Bonita Springs is about to get another major family-friendly attraction with the new Banyan Square Splash Pad currently under construction near Riverside Park along the historic Old 41 corridor.
As Downtown Bonita Springs continues transforming into one of Southwest Florida’s most popular destinations for events, parks, outdoor activities, and walkable riverfront experiences, the splash pad is expected to become another major draw for families spending time downtown.
And it’s arriving at the perfect time.
Over the past several years, Downtown Bonita Springs has evolved from a quiet historic district into one of the most active and enjoyable gathering places in Southwest Florida. Families now regularly head downtown for festivals, concerts, playgrounds, community events, kayaking on the Imperial River, outdoor dining, live music, and visits to the Wonder Gardens.
The new Banyan Square Splash Pad adds another major family attraction to that growing list.
Located near Riverside Park, the project is designed as far more than a simple splash pad.
Plans include interactive water features, shaded seating areas, upgraded landscaping, gathering spaces, and a layout intended to blend naturally into the surrounding downtown river district.
Construction officially began in early 2026, with Wright Construction Group leading the project.
🎥Checkout the plans for Banyan Square Splash Pad:
The splash pad will sit within Banyan Square, an area already becoming one of the central gathering spaces in Downtown Bonita Springs thanks to its proximity to Riverside Park, downtown events, playgrounds, outdoor concerts, restaurants, and the Imperial River itself.
That location is a huge part of why the project matters.
Families visiting Downtown Bonita Springs already spend hours exploring the area. Kids play at Riverside Park, families kayak and paddle the Imperial River, visitors walk through the Wonder Gardens, and downtown festivals continue drawing crowds throughout the year.
The splash pad helps connect all of those experiences together while giving families yet another reason to stay downtown longer.
And unlike many splash pads built inside large commercial developments or suburban shopping centers, this one will be part of a historic riverfront downtown filled with mature trees, public gathering spaces, locally owned businesses, and community-centered outdoor spaces that give Downtown Bonita Springs much of its charm.
That’s part of what continues making downtown feel so different from many surrounding areas throughout Southwest Florida.
The splash pad is also part of the city’s larger investment into Downtown Bonita Springs and the surrounding river district, which continues seeing improvements to public gathering spaces, landscaping, pedestrian areas, bike connectivity, event infrastructure, recreational amenities, and riverfront enhancements designed to make downtown even more active and connected.
That long-term investment is one of the biggest reasons Downtown Bonita Springs continues building momentum.
For many families, the splash pad will likely become one more reason to make Downtown Bonita Springs part of their regular routine — whether that means an afternoon at Riverside Park, visiting the playground, kayaking on the Imperial River, attending festivals, exploring the Wonder Gardens, or simply enjoying one of Southwest Florida’s most charming downtown districts. 🌴💦
