Is Naples open for business? I’m getting this question by phone, text, and email over the last few days. Naples is absolutely open for business. I’m here ready to help YOU find YOUR piece of Paradise just in time for the winter season in Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers and Marco Island.
Hurricane Ian spared us the full force of his storm and we’re praying and assisting those who weren’t so lucky. The majority of the storm damage in Naples was due to storm surge so most of the properties affected were close to the water. Older homes were impacted more than newer homes.
Newer construction along the Naples coastline fared better than older homes. They were built higher up to prevent or reduce flooding and were also built to stronger building codes that have been added over the years.
Our inland communities, mine included, suffered some minor damage or no damage at all. I live six miles inland and other than having to stake up a bush and deal without WIFI for a day, we were relatively unscathed. We actually never lost power though we had a generator on standby. Luckily we didn’t need it and were able to pass it along with gas, a window air conditioning unit and plenty of long extension cords to a friend in Fort Myers Beach.

Below is a video I took a few days after the storm moved out. As you can see, many restaurants and stores were already open for business. It was definitely quieter than usual for a lovely weather day in Naples but you can see that our beautiful downtown area survived and will be ready to receive you on your next trip to Naples.
Should You Cancel Your Trip To Naples?
Should you cancel your trip to Naples? Please don’t. Check with your hotels and property owners to confirm that they will be up and running for the date of your visit (many never closed), but if they are open, PLEASE come! You see, Naples is highly dependent on tourism dollars. The best thing you can do for our city is come as you usually would. Visit our stores, restaurants, beaches, and entertainment venues.
