The Lee County School District encompasses the cities of Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Sanibel, and Fort Myers. It has 45 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, 14 high schools, 17 Special Education Centers & Vocational/Technical Colleges, 4 K-8 schools, and 24 charter schools. Total enrollment is just over 93,000 students. Lee County School District ranks 30th in the state of 67 districts. According to US News and World Report, Fort Myers High School ranks highest in the district coming in at number 62 in all of Florida with a 94% graduation rate. In 2017, 9 of Lee County School District’s 45 elementary schools received an ‘A’ rating, including: Bonita Springs, Caloosa, Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts, Fort Myers Beach, Gulf, Pine Island, Rayma C. Page, and Three Oaks.
Six of Lee County School District’s 15 middle schools received an ‘A’ rating, including: Challenger, Cypress Lake, Diplomat, Gulf, Three Oaks, and Trafalgar.
Three of Lee County School District’s 14 high schools received an ‘A’ rating, including: Estero, Fort Myers, and North Fort Myers.
Eight of Lee County School District’s 24 charter schools received an ‘A’ rating, including: Bonita Springs Charter, Christa McAulliffe Charter Elementary, Florida SouthWestern (Edison) Collegiate High, Gateway Charter, Oasis Charter Elementary, Oasis Charter High School, Oasis Charter Middle, and the Island School.
Lee County School District attendance is not based on geographic zones. Instead, per their official website,
“In Lee County, the system of one neighborhood, one school, has been replaced with an open-enrollment system. What had become an annual ritual of redrawing school boundaries, moving children involuntarily from one school to another, to accommodate growth, has been replaced and now parents rank a variety of schools close to where they live.”
